It’s also a great event to get dressed up for and have a great time. For $20 and a toy donation, you’ll get top shelf open bar and great entertainment. We have the house dj’s from Body English and Tao in Vegas flying in to spin for us.
Tickets are going very fast for this event, we expect it to sell out in the next week or so. So, we hope you can all dress up, buy a ticket and join us.

We would like to invite each and every one of you to a very affordable charity event on Friday night November 9th here at Joe's. If you like the 80’s as much as we do, this should be like Prom Night…1985! The Band Sixteen Candles will be playing at this event. The goal of this charity event is to have fun but also take a few minutes to educate everyone about Spark Ventures.
The event is being produced by Dan Marcus and Scott Barbeau, two friends of ours. Dan and Scott have been to Africa several times and are incredibly motivated to help the children of Africa. We are inspired by a few guys from Lincoln Park who are so moved to help so many, so far away. The goal is to raise money to help these children attend school and to build an orphanage.
Here is some detailed information sent out by the founders of Spark Ventures:
Friday, November 9 is the kick-off for Spark Ventures (www.sparkventures.org), the non-profit that my friends started following a trip to Africa last summer. We are partnering with high-impact organizations around the world that are helping vulnerable children and their communities achieve their full potential.
There is so much I'd love to tell you about...
· -the amazing children and orphans we met and are now privileged to help
· -our new friends...dedicated Zambians helping the poor and sick every day
· -the vision of Spark—to be in 4 continents in 10 years helping to change the lives of vulnerable children
I could go on and on and hopefully I will get a chance to talk with you about it in person very soon, but to start with, I want to ask you to join us for From Africa to Chicago, Friday, November 9, 7-10pm @ Joe's Bar (940 W. Weed St., Chicago, IL).
We'll have a short presentation and video, ways to get involved, and a concert by the 80s cover band Sixteen Candles (www.sixteencandlesband.com). It's a $15 cover at the door (or $10 in advance on our website), free appetizers and a cash bar.
Check out their website for more about the event, our history & mission, and opportunities to sponsor a child. Tickets for the event will go on sale this weekend at www.sparkventures.org.
Please do your best to attend this event and also please forward this info to as many people as you can. If you can’t attend and would like to make a donation, please consider sponsoring one of the children at www.sparkventures.org. Please check out the website and watch the slideshow to get a better feel for this incredible organization.
Thanks for taking the time to read this e-mail and we hope to see you at Joe’s on Friday night, November 9th for a great cause and some great 80’s tunes!
